Hi,

can you tell me how you were able to use the usb on the N900 to view on your tv? is it better than the headphone jack output?

His LED tv has support for USB - 2.0 movie, so instead of using phone to tv composite (yellow, red and white) you can connect the phone to the tv by USB then the tv picks up the phone as media storage then you can play movies, pictures, music via the onscreen Samsung menu.

The composite connections (y,r,w) you do lose alot of quality, USB is more direct no loss of quality really.if any.at all.

Hmm... I'm not longer able to sort a EMail by Subject instead of received date.

Am I missing something or have they removed this feature?

great stuff!!! :O

another thing i dont know if it has been mentioned:
in the browser, when you get the cursor and click it (so it gets striked with the red line), the cursor will stay activated until you deselect it manually

before 1.2, it would get deselected automatically after a few seconds.

Never did that to me, once selected, it staid selected until deselected. It would go away after a while if the arrow wasn't clicked.

I hate that feature :-(
It means I can't hold down the "d" key any more to delete mail
in an xterm. So bulk mail reading is slower now.

Occasionally I hold it by accident, due to habit on normal keyboards and the fact that cursor keys for scrolling through mail do repeat, and some weird unwanted thing happens when it sends "#" :-(

Auto-repeat has changed so it still works on some keys (arrows, enter), but then you get the habit of expect it to work with letters

Can't hold down Space either when using a text editor, to indent, and entering a run of "-" or "=" to underline some text in a plain text message is really fiddly now too :-(

The least they could have done was an option in Settings to turn "long keys" off.

That, and the can't-uncapitalize-first-letter-when-auto-capitalizing change is also really annoying. Practically every message I write, at least one word, I find myself entering a dummy letter to go back and delete after the word is written. :-(

It's a tradeoff, but I use punctuation more than typematic.

As for lining lines, use the OSK. That has typematic, IIRC.

But there's a convenient blue arrow key for that - and it's way faster for punctuation than using the long keys anyway! I can type a whole word in the time it takes a long key to register.

I guess folks vary, but they really could have trivially made it a Setting. I don't use the long keys at all even for punctuation, and I miss the typematicness.

What's that? Never heard of it. I use mutt, emacs and bash over ssh in the Xterm.

Someone (I forget who) created a desktop widget to toggle between the old and new keyboard longpress behaviour.
