Hi,

I just uploaded a new package to extras-devel, its name is "WordByWord". It is a simple vocabulary trainer that takes an ordered list of words in two languages and presents you the words in random order. You may guess each word and then display the solution. WordByWord supports several modes for learning: you may just display the words, answer multiple choice questions or input the correct translation for the given word. Learning the lessons included in the packages you may also listen to the pronunciation of each word. If you have also installed PyGTKEditor you may easiely create and edit your own lessons.

WordByWord is not a small package, due to the inclusion of audio files as ogg (all data is installed in /opt, so you don't loose any space in root fs). Coming versions will split the language files in speperate language packages.

WordByWord is donationware, if you like this software please consider donating a small amount. You can find a button for donations in the menu of the software.

The bugtracker is here:

The .deb file is here:

And Mark Guim has posted a nice tutorial how to install .deb files on your N900, if you don't want to activate extras-devel:

Have fun!

Right now there are only the yaml files that are included in the package. If you create your own yaml files I could generate the audio files for them and package them for the repository.

You want to create a file, if I understand right... there is a sample file here, for German speakers who want to learn Portuguese:

http://www.peterbouda.de/downloads/de-pt.yml.txt

If you create the lessons according to the structure in the sample file you can then open the file in WordByWord (a desktop version is here: http://www.peterbouda.de/downloads/wordbyword.html). If you send me your file I will create the audio, if I have the TTS.
