A quick benchmark of enfuse on the my desktop (Quad core i7; 6 GB RAM):

11 source pictures: 14.2 seconds. Top displays about 600 MB memory usage
2 source pictures: 2.8 seconds. Top displays about 180 MB memory usage.

I don't have easy debian installed atm.

Ok:

I balanced my N900 in a video tape box (boy, I wish there was a tripod mount on the N900) and took the pictures with davost's script. Then installed enfuse in Easy Debian (apt-get install --no-install-recommends enfuse).

I can report that enfuse takes approximately 6.5 minutes on the N900 to process the three output pictures from davost's script into a somewhat reasonable HDR jpeg picture.

It is awful, but in the name of science, I will post it.

It isn't original resolution, but it is good enough for the purposes of this discussion.

I purposely chose an extremely demanding light situation. The blue box at the bottom was in total darkness, or the light at the top was completely blasted out.

Notice the noise.

A program would be so awesome for this, as I being the maemo noob that I am, I'd be too afraid to mess up my N900 via xterminal.

Edited Davosts script to start at -4 and output 5 files.
Ran through enfuse -l 20

N900 iso 100, exposure +0.5, white balance Cloudy, high res.

Gimped a bit to make warmer.

Ok so just ordered the GorillaPod to do this. So to be correct enfuse is needed to combine the .png files for the hdr image? Are there any programs for windows that accomplish the same thing that anyone has used in conjunction with the N900 shots? Is a port of Enfuse available for Maemo to run off the N900 to combine the photos so we can upload directly from the device to photosharing sites?

Wish: Someone creates a simple gui app of Davost's script to get these hdr images with one or two clicks combined with Enfuse. Would be epic to have that capability by just getting a tripod and downloading an app.

Yes, or some other tone mapping software. There are many. It can also be done manually in gimp, photoshop.

Sort of. Further up in the thread qole successfully ran enfuse on the tablet using easy debian. However, for high res pictures this is quite resource intensive. I.e., several minutes of numbercrunching.

Agreed. My code snippet is just a proof of concept. I would improve it but at the moment I am very busy with work. Hopefully I'll be able to put this together in a while.
