is it lighter than stumpwm? How do you get going with ratpoison, just pull the suitable package from the debian armer repositories?

i think apt-get install ratpoison was all i needed.

i love screen when i'm doing command line stuff. ratpoison is effectively screen as a wm... C-t n to switch windows.

no icons, no graphics, nooverhead at all. i

I've updated the first post, but I thought I should make a new post to bump the thread, too. Here's what I added to the first post:

UPDATES:

Now in the Extras-Testing repository. If you want this in Extras, go vote here:
easy-deb-chroot
easy-chroot

Keyboard problems are mostly solved worked-around. The fastest way to get keyboard in LXDE again is hit the power button and then tap outside the menu. This should restore keyboard to LXDE.

So far it is great and so far I am enjoying it very much. Had no issues doing the install. Thanks again.

Quick question: Is the /debian folder supposed to be hidden? 0.9.35-3 failed to mount for me until I un-hid it. I thought it was hidden so maemo didn't index it or something.

Flynx: can you be more specific with your bug report?

I purposely changed the name of the mounting folder to /.debian to keep it from being indexed, yes, but why did you need to unhide it? Can you run "sudo closechroot", change the directory name back to /.debian, then run and post the output of "sudo debian" please?

Looks like you missed a reference to /debian?

Code:
~ $ sudo debian
No chroot dir specified; using /debian
No image file or partition specified.
Mounting...
using image file: /home/user/MyDocs/debian-m5-v2.img.ext2
fs type is ext2
Using ext2 file system
mounting /home/user/MyDocs/debian-m5-v2.img.ext2 on the slow Fremantle-loop ;)
Cancelling chroot...
~ $
Maemo5 1.2009.44-1.002
easy-chroot 0.2.3-1fremantle1
easy-deb-chroot 0.9.35-3fremantle1

Edit: this is with folder hidden

GUI says:

mounting /dev/loop0 on /debian failed: no such file/dir

Flynx:

You are right, I should use /.debian instead of /debian as my default mount point in my script.

This will not cause a problem in new installs, because I have changed this in the ~/.chroot config file, but it will cause a problem for users updating from previous versions, because it doesn't update previously installed .chroot files.

As a workaround, change the "CHROOT=/debian" line to "CHROOT=/.debian" in your /home/user/.chroot file.

Easy Debian has the 10 votes needed, but Easy Chroot needs two more to push everything over the top...
