I want an alarm clock that can also react to a signal or message sent over the internet.

As RSS is pull, and I don't want to poll every 10 seconds, what push technology could I use?

That's a cool concept. My input is that you don't need such fine-grained control on an alarm clock: just use one dial, with position between the hour ticks indicating the minute. That would be a simple yet elegant interface, and less prone to mistakes with sleepy eyes...
