I have no doubt that Nokia will release an update supporting it and Google video chat but out of the box I don't think it's supported..

Worse than that: Ovi Contacts are inaccessible to Ovi Mail.

That's just nuts.

The big problem is that Ovi's issues will be seen as device issues as well. Nokia has reached a point in certain markets where they flat cannot afford these easily avoidable goofs and gaps. Poor service really hurt the N800's reputation-- the market won't tolerate too much more of that.

Parts of Ovi are available to us. Until it broke for me this week, I was really loving the Contacts service. And I intend to use Ovimail more and more.

I wonder if the September community council election is going to be a lot more crowded with candidates than the last one?

Thanks again. That's one for my presentation.

But syncing to the local app is useful for:

1) situations where you've got NO signal, but still want to know your appointments, check a phone number to dial from a landline, etc.

2) situations where you're trying to change something, but the signal is so low/slow that it's unbearably unusable.

3) when a Google App is down (it has happened), and you want to look at your last known data set.

Even Google lets you do syncing of their apps (with Gears on regular platforms, and it's built-in to Android).

what more do I need?
  • Contacts sync (more important to me than email sync)
  • I didn't see where it said the calendar can sync with Google
  • Sync with Oracle Calendar
