cannot get my n810 to use my cell data connection. i have tried everything possible. onlyh two possible situations i can thinkn of are either vz crippled the ability to tether data call via bt, or password is not 'vzw'

carrier verizon wireless
unllimited data plan
phone samsung omnia
have sucessfully paired via bt

error msg when trying to connect is 'failed to connect to <phone name>

tearing out my hair any help would be appreciated.

have you connected to another computer via usb cable? I have an LG dare on VZW and when I connect to my PC to tether, I have to shut down & restart my phone to connect back to my n810 via bluetooth.
do a phone shut off and see if that helps.

Do you have the enable tethering hacks on your phone?
There's a hack for enabling Wifi tethering on your phone here:
http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-o...verizon-omnia/

but I'm not sure if it applies to bluetooth tethering.

other things to check:
phone number is #777
username is <yourphonenumber>@vzw3g.com
password is (for most phones): vzw

If you've got all that information right, then maybe try the link that I posted, it worked for my friend's omnia to tether using wifi, but it sure does drain battery fast.

Hope this helps!

muahhhahaaaa
Junefabrics PDANet does it again!

I had it anyway for my laptop, haven't used it in a while, but I decided to reinstall onto my Omnia. Now BT tethering data call worked in .. oh about 3 seconds!

Gotta love those guys

PS if anyone knows of a completely freeware equivalent of PDANet, lemme know plz, if any of my colleagues wanna do this when they get their Nokia ITs

glad you found a solution! nothing worse than having an "internet tablet" without a connection!
