Hi,

XKCD Home Applet 0.0.2 has been uploaded to Diablo extras-devel.

It's python script for reading comics from http://xkcd.com/

Feel free to install and test it. I'd appreciate your feedback.

You can also download xkcdha package from garage: https://garage.maemo.org/projects/xkcdha/

Thank you,

Ed

Beware - I had problems after installing it with alarmd, maxing out cpu, draining battery and crashing my tablet. This stopped after uninstalling xkcdha. So maybe you better control the code.

xkcdha 0.0.3 has been released

What's new in this version:

You can use xkcdha as a home applet and as an application.
Implemented check for internet connection
Menu and AI icons have been been added

TODO:
* Add 'begin' and 'end' navigation buttons
* implement slideshow mode

2debernardis: I couldn't reproduce bug, you've pointed out to. load of the system doesn't differ with xcda installed and without it. No desktop crashes observed. Can you explain in more detailed way how did you get it, please?

I am not sure that xkcdha was the culprit, because the bug came back also after I uninstalled it, and I could get rid of the problem after I adjusted the systam's date (?).
I'll test your new version and let you know if the bug comes back. Thanks for now.

EDIT: your new version is great. Could you do a zoom in and scrolling for too-big strips? Thanks :-)

Goodness. Its a big applet. Can it be minimized?

I wanted to disable it but I had too many applets, can't disable them anymore in the dialog.
