*some* sort of notification when a SMS comes in would be awesome to start. Obviously the others options could come after.

Thanks for being willing to consider them as features.

I've not made any geographical restrictions to using my app.
That being said, I'm not sure you would benefit from using Google Voice to call numbers in Mongolia from within Mongolia: Wont that incur double the international call rates?

Yes, makes sense. I'll keep you posted on this thread.

If this is possible, is it also possible to play a tone (possibly different) when I get a SMS from someone I actually care about (possibly by designating a special tone in their contact listing)?

Finally, is there a way to see a notification of a waiting SMS message on the Nokia N9 black and white lock screen. I'm sorry, I forget what it's called. It comes up when my phone has been sitting idle for a bit.
Since you said you were considering new features...

Something I sorely wish for in any GV client (android doesn't have this either has far as I know) is something that reacts to the groups you set up in Google Voice. Now I think they may be lumped into Circles.

But, basically, in Google voice, you can designate a group of people for different purposes.

So you could set up a system like this:

Family, calls ring through directly
Friends, calls ring through after a voice verification
Harassers, calls never ring, just go to aether
Everyone else (not in a group), calls go direct to voice mail

I'd love to see a feature that lets you designate a ring tone based on the group the SMS comes from (including no tone or a "silent" feature) to simulate these options.

So, family, friends, confirmed harassers, and ungrouped people could each have their own ring tone (or no tone) when a SMS comes in.

Two issues;
1) I'm not sure if the API reveals the groups
2) It may not be worth the amount of coding effort needed to implement.

I thought it couldn't hurt to ask though.

I think GV already allows a type of separation like this. In the past I used to have a group called "GV permit" in which I used to keep the list of people I wouldn't mind getting a call from. Everyone else had to say their name before it reached me.
This feature is entirely Google Voice - not related to qgvdial.

I should be able to create rules like that but exposing that in an interface that doesn't suck is harder than actually implementing the logic.

qgvdial seems to have stopped working for me just around today - keeps complaining that I have an incorrect username/password, though I'm sure they're correct. I have two-factor authentication turned on, and it does get to the stage where it asks me for the security token - but even after typing this in correctly, it complains about the invalid username/password. Logs attached.

Yup, happened to me as well. I'm investigating it, seems like something changed with Google Voice.
I don't know what changed so I don't have a fix yet nor an ETA.
I'll post my updates on this thread.

Ok I've got a fix. I've started the builds for several platforms. It should be about 15 minutes more before I upload them to the project page.

Is the one in the Maemo repos also going to be updated soon?
