You could try it. I do not know hydra though.
The maemo busybox has not the full functionality of a full terminal, some options and some commands are missing, but you could try to get it working in busybox-power or one of the bash variants, that are available.
There are a couple of pentesting suites in the repositories and quite some instructions in this forum as well.
