not that hard to detect, like if you look what 64gb chip look like...

Well anyways even if you know what chip to replace, your changes to change to bigger one and have running device afterwards, is near 0%, even if you manage to change it successfully... especially if you don't have access to factory flashers...

What about if we swap it from the N9 64GB?

I'm planning to buy a white 64GB N9 next week when I get back to Shanghai.

But for N950 that's the only method to extend memory.

I eagerly await the day when you destroy your N950.

So this should be it....

Edit: seems like the PKG and the PKG Dimensions are different... Would that work out?

There is always someone needs to be the first to try.

If you don't have any advice, just shut up!!

I'm very interested in outcome of that - especially, that if HtheB really have access to required $$$ tools, it would be possible to change N900's OneNAND to one containing 1GB RAM (quite hard to get exactly same type with more RAM, but still possible)

We all know what it means, and where harmattan can hide, then

I'm betting on no. You'd need at the very least, for the package (type and number of solder joints to board) and the package dimensions to match up, unless you want to carry around an external board holding your chips

The $$$ Tools can be more affordable than someone can think.
For example search info/videos about Tornado Soldering Station V2

The main problems are skill needed and spare parts.

For N900's nand is more difficult than eMMC because Nand (and Ram togheter) is a PoP chip.
But it remains theoretically feasible.

I have suggested it on : http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=133

I know (by internet) a company specialized on replacing Omap Soc and their PoP chip on existing Arm Board.

The main problems are:
  • How much money they want for doing the job ?
  • Newer PoP chips (up to 2GB ram with up to 4GB Nand) are pin compatible with one used on N900 ?
  • Newer PoP chips are available in small quantity ?
  • Omap 3430 used on N900 has max values for ram and Nand supported ?
And what are these values ?

Furthermore in this thread we are OT
