@sakya and all others who used dpkg -x to install hildon-desktop
it is really unhealthy way
so i made a patched .deb for hildon-desktop

NOTE : ONLY FOR PEOPLE WHO DON'T USE CSSU

installation instructions :

1-) Download the original hildon-desktop portrait from 1st post or from HERE
to MyDocs
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2-) install it by
Code:
sudo gainroot
dpkg -i /home/user/MyDocs/hd_18_07_2011.deb
ignore if any problems occur saying that you have unmet dependencies
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3-) Download the patched verstion of hildon-desktop from attachments or from HERE
to MyDocs
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4-) install it by
Code:
sudo gainroot
dpkg -i /home/user/MyDocs/hd_18_07_2011_patched.deb
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PS : DON'T FORGET TO INSTALL THE ORIGINAL HILDON-DESKTOP FIRST I MEAN DON'T IGNORE STEP 2

i hope i helped cheers

PS : MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE A PREPARED BACKUP UNTIL SOMEONE CONFIRM IT'S WORKING WITHOUT TROUBLES

File Type: deb hd_18_07_2011_patched.deb (232.1 KB, 555 views)

i've just had a problem i tried installing rockbox and it's saying i have unmet dependencies and hildon desktop is showing and that i should try apt-get -f install to correct it.
I've looked back through the rockbox thread and posted the problem there but no one seems to have encountered that problem.
i'm wondering if what i entered this afternoon(below) has caused a problem?
http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=459
error message
BusyBox v1.10.2 (Debian 3:1.10.2.legal-1osso30+0m5) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

/home/user # apt-get rockbox
E: Invalid operation rockbox
/home/user # apt-get install rockbox
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
mp-fremantle-community-pr: Depends: hildon-desktop (>= 1:2.2.142-13) but 1:2.2.140-1+0m5 is to be installed
status-area-orientationlock-applet: Depends: hildon-desktop (>= 1:2.2.142-11) but 1:2.2.140-1+0m5 is to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).
/home/user #

right did the apt-get and reinstalled hildon-desktop, installed rockbox(any installation brought up the unmet dependencies) re-installed hildon protrait desktop.
Now i guess i'm stil stuck with apt-get upgrade problem?

Hi all!

Does somebody have latest version of hildon-desktop binary (from gitorious sources)? I'm not skilled to compile it by my own so before the time of next cssu came, maybe someone could share .deb file of the lates code.
