I'm using the N810 firmware. Maybe that's why?

Ouch. I just flashed to the N800 release - last night the N810 firmware wouldn't let me install Skype. Oh well...

Yes...it is possible. I'm booting my N800 with OS2008 in flash on OS2007 on my memory card. I did not do anything different (I previously was dual booted). I just loaded OS2008 into flash memory.

Well that sucks. I hope they'll release a N800 version soon. Really there shouldn't be any difference. Since the N810 OS works fine looks like I'll be updating my OS2008 next time in december.

Thanks! Did you have to flash the dual boot menu again after flashing the OS2008 or was that menu when turning on the device still there?

You need the latest OS 2008 firmware. I have RX-44_2008SE_1.2007.42-18_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin and I need RX-44_2008SE_1.2007.42-19_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin to install Skype. At least that's what the installer told me.

Looks like skype checks for a N810 device regardless of what OS version you have installed.
It wants an N810 with the latest firmware on it.

Hope it's just a mistake.

Are you sure wlan is working under OS2007 in your setup? Last time I tried, it didn't because of firmware incompatibility between the OS2007 and OS2008 kernels, which is why I went back to OS2007.

From this posting by fanoush, it doesn't look like anything has changed in this regard:
