Hi,

I'm a kind lost after spending a lot of time searching on TMO how to install unrestricted_system_ui : http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=91170

I followed a lot of links with a lots of question/answer on how to make unrestricted_system_ui working

I think I know :
- Must have "open mode" and/or aegis hack

I clearly don't know
- what is open mode :
It looks like it's a new custom kernel like kernel plus I can install with :
Code:
# tar xvzf linux_2.6.32.61-plus-20131128.tar.gz -C /
# depmod -a 2.6.32.61-plus
It should be good to have an optimized kernel but will a noob like me see any difference (speed / energy consumption ?) as I don't want to overclock, use 802.11 injection and don't care about file system ... just want this mysterious "open mode"

I know
- It's better to use Ubiboot (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=89345) to start kernel plus
Use this kernel with ubiboot
Gone are the days of flashing kernels!
but Ubiboot need this (from mysterious to fuc*in') "open mode"

I can see BSOD with a big "circular reference" in my eyes !

Can you please help me to take the good decision as
- I'm interested by kernel plus but I don't know if my phone will work as fine as now (many mailboxes and mail for exchange, sip/google/skype account, profilematic, billboard, meecast, wharehouse, patched nokia map)
- Finally I just want to install unrestricted system ui but i'd like to know the better, straightforward method

Please ... helpppp (copyright leeloo)

I suggest you use the aegis hack as it is the easiest...

Running an open mode kernel would need some work on your device and if you are not interessted in any of the features of kernel plus there is really no point in this...

Thanks Mcbook, I think you're right, it's easier and "less intrusive" like flashing openmode kernel

apparently, openmode kernel lock an ACL folder/file so it's impossible to change lock code that my mail for exchange ask me for every 2-3 month with complex lock code required, so perhaps my phone won't have worked like now after that ...

I've finally installed aegis hack and other relative stuff like coderus trusted repository, debinstall, ... and unrestricted system UI !

My N9 is no near perfect !

just missing a better way to manage network connection,
just missing wifi eap-sim authentication ...
