See http://harmattan-dev.nokia.com/unsta...omparison.html

Meego Harmattan use DEB packages and is more closed as Fremantle. Stskeeps wrote that Meego will be 100% open source... and this is not true now.

Meego Harmattan do not use Ofono but still csd daemom (see comparison)

You're confusing the pure open source MeeGo core and reference UXes from MeeGo.com with the differentiated solutions manufacturers ship.

MeeGo continues to be 100% open. Harmattan is not MeeGo.

EDIT:

With luck, the MeeGo project will get the required driver sources like they did for the N900, and a port of the MeeGo CE to the N9 will be possible. Then all the proprietary bits can be removed completely (along with any functionality they provided, however.)

It certainly appears to have been approved as MeeGo by the TSG. The N9's OS is being listed as MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan and the dev program is being run through MeeGo.com.

I think it's safe to say there will be a MeeGo CE for both devices:
11:04:13 <jukkaeklund> so we are now planning to have new devices in the scope for CE work
11:04:21 <alterego>
11:04:39 <alterego> "MeeGo N9(xx) Community Edition"

So that means that Harmattan is more close sourced than Android?

wmarone knows what's going on. If says something I am much more likely to believe it than others on this forum.
