Dunno if anyone else has has thought about this, but with the chatter going around of HP slashing the prices of the Touchpad... Could the device not be a good candidate for a Meego tab project?

...I am trying to look around for one in my area now?

Depends if the system is flashable and can have an OS installed.
Unlocked boot loader is needed.

It appears as though other forums are also staring to see the attraction of the HP touchpad price drop too. My question is also being asked on the XDA and ubuntu pages too (for their respective OS's)

As for the UK stores, it appears as though we have yet to hear the news from HP. However they ebay can be bought from £150+postage.

I am still very tempted...

Well, my hand is itchy and i have checked out 32 GB this early morning on OfficeDepot 149.99. (yeahhh)

16GB is gold with only 99.99 but well office depot sold the 16 with 129.99 so might as well get the 32 GB.

I just get "We're sorry, item 278394 is not available for purchase at this time " on officedepot.com and all the other places seem out of stock :/

Looks like I'm not the only one who thought of this today when I saw the news today

It seems like it should be possible. Apparently some people have already been able to get Ubuntu running, and others are working on Android: http://liliputing.com/2011/08/hp-tou...ps-tablet.html

The immediate roadblock is the lack of GPU drivers for the Qualcomm chip in the system. Jump that hurdle and you might have a way forward.

Why don't we they get Cordia to run one some hardcore hardware?
Like: galaxy S2 which has an unlocked boot loader.
Galaxy = 1.26GHz dual (overclockable to 1.6ghz dual) and 1GB ram.
Or if it ever gets unlocked, the motorola Droid2. Omap4 @1gb (512 ram) and hardware KB

Well, get MeeGo to run on it and you can have Cordia on it.

If there are any userspace blobs (and there are, at least for graphics) then unless you can get hardfp, glibc builds of them it's a moot point.

Ditto.

Double ditto.
