Is there any way to prevent screen dimming? I've already unchecked power saving mode under display settings. basically when I'm reading an article after about a minute the screen dims automatically and I have to tap the screen or press a button to put it back to full backlit.

also select stays lit when charging

install the Simple Brightness Applet, then tab on the status-bar at the top of the screen and puch the button before the dimming bar.
then activate the checkbox "keep display on"
