yea happens to me too
one of ur widgets is using the desktop
it looses access or something so this happens
it happened to me alot in pr1.1.1 when i added new widgets
and once or twice while changing themes in pr1.2

Well clearly you have a crappy widget. remove them from desktop one by one to see which one causes troubles! it might be theme realted as well

Install Desktop Activity Manager
It doesn't solve your problem but as it makes backups of all your desktop screens it is much easy and fast to restore them.

Happens to me alot as well. Combined with the fact my media player play button on the widget doesn't work it is almost pointless me having widgets.
they do remember thier position on the screen, but they keep dissapearing.
any ideas?
