Hi Guys,

My phone says it has updates, but says it cant install the update unless i do it via the PC suite.

However the nokia site says the n900 is not supported?

Any thoughts?

Nokia PC Suite works with the N900. Nokia OVI Suite (public release) doesn't. If you want to update the firmware you can use flasher 3.5: http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_firmware

Just use flasher. Believe me it's MUCH better. And easier. It only looks difficult. Look at the link I posted. There is all the info you need there.

According to this post you need to make sure that you both have enough rootfs space, and none of these apps installed:

tunewiki
freoffice
openarena
countdowntimer
teeworld
brainparty

For me, I had to remove openarena then the install went perfectly!

Well that's why (and it is in the WIki) you should do a backup using the Backup application of the phone before flashing anything. You woin't erase MyDocs and backup is stored there.

Flash only the firmware and not the eMMC. If you flash the eMMC to, you should backup MyDocs too. Everything is in the wiki. It is very helpful.

Oh ok, I may give it a miss for the time being then.

Seems silly that they release an update that blatantly cant be installed simply.

Ty for your help.

To do an OTA upgrade you need around 58mb in rootfs. If you dont have enough space it'll tell you that you need toi update via PC.

If you want to check your rootfs
Code:
df -h \
If less than 58mb(ish) and want to try OTA, check the wiki for freeing up rootfs.
