Hi all,

First post...

Just got a China branded N9 with PR 1.3 already installed.

No idea whether this has been discussed in other threads, but if I want to install Skype and other cool apps, can I just change the repositories or do I need to reflash?...

I read it worked with PR 1.1 and 1.2, but I could not find info about PR 1.3...

Many thanks in advance...

You can simply add the repos and install Skype...

If you reflash do remember its a chinese variant so there will be complication mainly the CMT part of your current firmware will be needed to flashed alongside any new firmware...Failing to do so will result in your GSM modem to not work...Read and search within http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=82693 you'll see the proper process when flashing from a China branded fw to a regular fw...

Thank you, thedead1440.

I tried to change the repo, but got stuck already in the beginning...

What I did was:
1) open terminal
2) type command devel-su
3) type password rootme
4) type cd /etc/apt/sources.list.d/

Then it says 'not found'

Any suggestions on how to continue?...

Regards,

its better you use N9QTweak to do the addition/removal of repos...It'll make things easier

Just read the N9QTweak thread...
Sounds much too complex for me...
Wish there was a skype deb file that I could add instantly...

Chung

Hi thedead1440,
Thank you, but I cannot open your link because I am based in China (great firewall...).
Could you please send it to this address?
In case you also have the Accuweather deb file?...
Many thanks again!
Regards,

Hi thedead1440,
Could not install the Skype deb file, seems I need to remove some repos firstly.
Probably I need to study the N9Qtweak before I modify my N9...
Thanks for all your help!

Hi thedead1440,

Through the terminal I got this so far:

# apt-get update
# apt-cache search skype
l10n-app-skype - Translation File for application skype
telepathy-spirit - Skype connection manager for Telepathy
account-plugin-skype - Skype plugin for accounts-ui
# apt-get install account-plugin-skype
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done

Package account-plugin-skype is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source
E: Package account-plugin-skype has no installation candidate
