When my brother was in CA more than a year ago, he tried to buy a prepaid cellphone card but told me it wasn't possible unless you buy a phone with it.

Either he didn't try real enough or it might be true.

Can i get a prepaid card only over there?
And which should i get for the Miami area?

Thanks

I am *pretty sure* you can still get prepaid SIM cards. Just go to an AT&T or TMobile store and ask for prepaid SIM card. We have a lot of prepaid phone services here that do require a phone locked to a service and you simply buy a "refill" card to add minutes to that phone. That is NOT what you want. That is what most big box stores sell.

Just go to AT&T or TMobile store and ask for a prepaid SIM you should be all set.

One question: will those pre-paid SIM cards provide data access?

How long are you staying? It might be cheaper to just get a month-to-month plan - I'm currently paying $40/mo for mine for 500 minutes and unlimited data.

i always buy a prepaid card at the country i visit. it always ends much much cheaper than roaming.
