I just hacked together a female-female usb adapter out of 2 male-female adapters and the results are stunning to say the least. I feel like I can actually use my n810 for serious, productive work now. I have 2 problems though: Lack of any word processing software and a huge mess of wires.

The latter isnt that big of an issue but the former-well, letś just say that it completely halts my prospects for the little n810.

I think I would be speaking for everyone when I say that Notes just doesnt cut it and abiword is a complete mess. As far as the latest build goes; Pasting crashes the program immediately and the letter p doesnt seem to be important to Abiword as he completely ignores it when I try to use it. I just installed easy debian for openoffice but I can only hope that soon installing 2 gigs of data just to use a word processor will become a forgotten chore in the future of maemo.

As far as rants go, I've seen worse

So, as far as this usb deal you're doing goes...

I've been meaning to look into what I need to do start experimenting with what I can and cannot do with usb on the N810.

However, I haven't really gotten anywhere (technically, haven't really started trying )

Care to share what you're doing, or trying to do?

Nothing special. Just installed the usbcontrol app and hooked up a keyboard.

I wrote a 2 page outline in openoffice, which is surprisingly stable considering the way it's emulated.

There are some good news on that front, although I don't think it's made it to the repositories yet.
