I've read some posts telling something like wireless channels (one channel is blocked in Europe, I think).

I couldn't find any, but after collecting the info I can only assume it's about FM Transmitter Freq' and Wifi channels.
Just install the one which matches to where you live and you should be good to go (:

The differences are fairly simple:
* Locale / Language specifics
* Radio Frequency differences & power levels
* IM restrictions (Some variations don't have Skype)

That's about it, not much more to say. If you flash with the global version there are no restrictions that you can't overcome with applications available in the repo's.

Skype is available on USA firmware, Radio Frequency is all the same in every firmware (I flashed all of them to see the differences)
Locale language differences is none.

No Idea why there is nothing different between those firmwares

because the n900s from Hong Kong dont have the fm transmitter, cant remember the reason though something along the lines of, it's prohibited to use unauthorised radio tranmissions

There is no Hong Kong image file on the server either. The ony Asia I found is India/Russia image.

So I believe Hong Kong version has some sort of unique image.
