I am new to linux. How can i modify file manager so that i can use it to manipulate files and folders in all device memory? I mean the areas i would be able to manipulate by xterm using root privilages. i have n800 with os2008

Your best choice is to use a double-pane file manager like emelfm2 or midnight commander, calling it from xterm while being root.
