I am going to say something no linux guy would ever say. Try to reboot and then connect to the internet. The system checks for updates automatically. And you'll see a small flashing yellow icon on top. Click on it and the update manager would show the updates. Just say update all. And let's hope the update button comes up this time. I hope it works. Else, it's keep you busy for a few minutes :-D
