Well, I just updated to SailfishX 3.0 and I'm a bit disappointed:
- Linux kernel is the old 3.10.84, dating back to
July 2015
(yet Jolla patched it for the latest CVE's);
- systemd 225 (dates back to August 2015), unchanged
- apparently no Wayland update as well
- libQt5Location is still the old 5.2.2, I bet my native GPS app (working since Sailfish 1.1) will be rejected again from Jolla Store. Most Qt5 libraries are 5.6.3 anyway.
- sadly, the
"known issues" list for Xperia X
is basically unchanged as well.
Recent kernel+systemd versions would allow native apps to run under different (temporary) "users" (isolating apps/privileges), plus a number of other system+networking related goodies. I bet Jolla guys were conservative about any change. SDK 1810 is
not ready yet.
