Solved it.

First apt-get install --reinstall -y kernel-power kernel-power-modules
rebooted and then
apt-get install --reinstall -y kernel-power-flasher
rebooted again

now uname -a results in 2.6.28.10-omap1-power53 #PREEMPT...
