no.
no.
and no...
in any particular order.

First.
go to my signature.
you will find exactly what is needed.
"Pimp my N8x0"

In order.
Follow implicitly.
I even did a series of video on youtube .

don't fret...your device is not screwed up.
you are.
hahahaha..

ok seriously.
follow the directions...
it seems like a lot of verbiage in the instructions...
but it is extensive and misses nothing.
It goes from a full reflash of diablo, to cloning the pristine diablo just flashed to the internal sd card slot on a n800, to then upgrading the sd card diablo to diablo - turbo, to then referring to the proper set up of repositories , including the proper set up of the gronmayer catalog repositories...
(due to the fact that there are A- WAY too many catalogs there, B- The fact that there are MANY catalogs which are dead, and C- The fact that there are catalogs which either should NOT be enabled due to conflicts, duplication with existing catalogs already on device, or catalogs which should be added BUT NOT enabled until absolutely needed and then disabled upon acquiring whatever was needed from that specific catalog)
ALL is explained there.
Just doing blanket installation of all gronmayer repos will undoubtedly cause the above mentioned issues.
Also it normally takes some time for the tiny processor in it to update just the maemo standard repos...
adding more repos ...especially the mammoth list in gronmayer...even parts of it...
will add to time you must be patient to wait with catalog updating.
Breaking and halting catalog updating normally means you would have to reboot just to reset the catalogs properly and update properly again.
It is suggested ...when everything is installed properly from os to catalogs...to allow the catalog updating process to continue unhindered.

ALSO:
many times I mention and so have others ...
in their instructions...
when cloning...you must repeat the exact cloning process.
you must do it twice.
It is mentioned in pbeasy instructions .
No doubt you did not follow directions properly and specifically if you have no option to boot to the cloned sd card.

ALSO:
to answer your question.with pbeasy you can install any of the firmwares meant for your specific N8x0...
PenguinBait originally never got around to testing to see if it would work problem free...but states it should work no problem.
I have not encountered a problem using the most recent diablo firmware MEANT for the n800 or the most recent diablo firmware MEANT for the n810.
N810 sd card instructions are little different from the n800 card instructions....

HOWEVER:
N810 INTERNAL DEVICE cloning instructions are not to be done sloppily, cavalierly, messily, under the influence, impaired, in a bad mood, or in any other situation other than being completely alert and cognizant of your surroundings and what you are doing. Since you are messing with the internal of the n810 itself.
Instructions must be followed implicitly, there is no room for 2nd chances cloning to the internal of the n810 device itself.
Screw THAT up, and you very likely will have a brick.
So follow those instructions properly the 1st time.

Otherwise...
Cloning to internal card slots on the n810 and n800 are a piece of cake once one has done the process a few times.

Follow the instructions implicitly in "pimp my N8x0.
Following them properly has never resulted in a device that wouldn't work.
NOT following the instructions implicitly WILL result in a "start all over from the beginning " situation ..until you do the process properly.

your device is not broken.
Go and read, reread, rereread, then apply.
Once you have done the full instructions a few times it will become old hat.
and you will be able to go from a reflash to full turbo and everything you could cram into it..in under 1-2 hours.

the n8x0 line were pretty much bomb proof.
I have yet to find one that was unrecoverable ...
especially if following proper instruction.
If you are determined to think you have a damaged device ...
Ok....
just send it to me or anyone else here before chucking it in the garbage.
