Actually, the N900 already comes with busybox, although I think there is an updated version available.

But I've been snooping around the Maemo archives to find some other postings of uname -a output, with some interesting results. Here are a few:

Vanilla Maemo kernel:

From psrkn:
Code:
Linux Nokia-N900-42-11 2.6.28.10maemo-omap1 #1 PREEMPT Tue Apr 13 10:48:47 EEST 2010 armv7l unknown
From Roky (also lucm and my own; this should be the latest stock kernel):
Code:
Linux Nokia-N900-42-11 2.6.28-omap1 #1 PREEMPT Fri Aug 6 11:50:00 EEST 2010 armv7l unknown
Custom kernel variants:

From biketool:
Code:
Linux Nokia-N900 2.6.28.10-power50 #1 PREEMPT Sun Mar 18 20:10:56 EET 2012 armv7l unknown
From sup:
Code:

From dr_frost_dk:
Code:
Linux Nokia-N900 2.6.28.10-cssu3 #1 PREEMPT Sat Jul 28 18:05:05 EDT 2012 armv7l unknown
From mailcomx (also lonk):
Code:
linux Nokia-N900 2.6.28.10-power52 #1 PREEMPT Sat Apr 6 11:59:23 UTC 2013 armv7l GNU/Linux

A handful of interesting ones from searching the maemo IRC log for "uname":

Anyway, spending too much time on this. But yeah, it looks like whoever builds the kernel can say whatever they like, from "Linux" to "GNU/Linux" to nothing (unknown).
