I think most "freelancer devs" have accepted that the current platform (Maemo/Meego Harmattan) is dead. There are serious efforts to create a new platform, Maemo Leste. There's a subforum here on tmo. Leste currently concentrates on Nokia N900 & Motorola Droid 4 hardware, but an image for N9/N950 also exists. That said, many openrepos.net apps still work, and some Leste software efforts might be compatible with current Harmattan.
