Hey you live and learn, don't get too down.
Right the method I used was to first of all use a command called
dd
to make an image of the drive on a file in my hard disk. Then I would make a copy of that image, and I think I used a program called
photorec
to recover the deleted files.
So what this means is, ideally, you'll need a minimum of 2 times the size of the partition you want to recover on your hard disk.
