I had a similar issue on new router connections and it may or may not be this simple: Once I connected to the router connection, I had to go to the available connections screen, press and hold over the wifi connection you want to connect to, and it will bring up the option to connect automatically, or connect manually. I had to choose connect automatically. It was otherwise always trying to switch between the network provider connection and the wifi and I wouldn't get any throughput. It may not be that simple, but hope it helps.
