Re: RIP Dennis Ritchie

The C Programming Language is a must for every person planning to write a programming related book. So simple, not too long, but still comprehensive. Hard to find as good books nowdays.

I'll...

Re: RIP Steve Jobs

Even if you say, Jobs wasn't the man behind the innovations, you can't argue that he was a leader with a vision. To me Apple is a corporate that has a vision that every employee knows and works for....

Re: N9 [Announced]: It's [NOT] finally here!

User friendliness is nowdays understood as a synonym for stupid user compatibility. What I want to do is to be able to do my daily/hourly routines fluently. Even if it takes couple of days to figure...

Re: N9: It's finally here

My guess was simply that everyone of these ads has a single character, since they quite obviously have these characters. I've found the following candidates, and believe me, I've tried quite much of...

Re: Nokia to create free software for Samsung, HTC and other WindowsPhone vendors!

Well, MS already uses Bing maps with WP7 and those are based on Navteq stuff. That basically means money to Navteq/Nokia. And I quess maps are the biggest issue with sharing your technology.

Re: What does the N9 offer above the N900

Your comparison seems to be wrong, since Quim Qil is telling in Meego forums that N9 has both FM receiver and transmitter capabilities, but it's lacking software currently.

Re: Elop on Helsingin Sanomat: N9 the last Meego phone even if it is succesfull.

So, basically the case could be the following. (my speculation partly copied from elsewhere)

Nokia is committed to make one Meego release this year (some agreement with Intel etc.). It totally...

Re: Why I am getting a Nokia N9 (are you?)

Yep, give us even one screen for widgets. I realize that notifications view can cover lot's of things, but it's not suitable for weather widgets and especially it's not suitable for geeky widgets...

Re: N9: It's finally here

Seriously. Give me a decent email app, and I'll buy this one. IMO Modest is a joke that gets old pretty soon.

Re: Problem with screen, unable use N900

Oh yes, the program tscalibrate doesn't accept my presses, since it thinks that my presses are way off the target 1.

Re: Problem with screen, unable use N900

I haven't installed anything lately. Let's say for couple of weeks. Quite easy to remember, since I've been travelling abroad.

Ok, finally managed to find some help. So, I run...

tscalibrate reset

...on xterm, but it didn't bring any help. Getting a bit worried about my screen HW condition.

Problem with screen, unable use N900

I have a strange problem. For some reason my phone is currenly interpreting the touch screen presses weirdly. It might be a calibration problem, since e.g pressing the up-right corner gives me 0 when...

Re: How to make a start up script?

Maemo uses upstart, so that's why the syntax is required in the script.

Use e.g. the command line tool called dbus-monitor. There might be even better options, but I don't recall currently.

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock!

As ex-Nokia Rick Simonson used to say about corporate communications.

Re: Question for the community/council - Maemo/Meego

Yep, Wiki is a great tool. But the more you document there, the more you need to spend time updating the documentation. Documentation in the forum threads is a safer bet for the developers. Of course...

Re: N950 with MeeGo this year, but who trusts Nokia anymore?

If I recall, the Aava guys have tried to wrap together a mobile phone concept for ages, i.e. way before Meego.

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU
