Re: Maemo-Leste pre-alpha announcement

My code isn't complete and depending on the variant used is incompatible with Maemo packages. It, as the thread suggested, was an experiement to see what could be done. Leste, although currently...

Re: Maemo-Leste pre-alpha announcement

Taking the same code snippet from Cordia, you could check a setting for touchscreen cursor visibility and set it to selected cursor. Other than needing a section in Hildon control panel, pretty...

Re: Maemo-Leste pre-alpha announcement

Has anyone had any luck getting Virtualbox Guest Additions to work?

After installing the GA's it just goes to black screen. With 3D acceleration enabled in machine settings for the VM it spews...

Re: Maemo-Leste pre-alpha announcement

Yeah, that's the one. Not 100% sure it worked correctly on my Cordia based port or if it made it in to the Fremantle-GTK3 version.

Re: Maemo-Leste pre-alpha announcement

With regards to extmou, would it be worth enumerating input devices in hildon-desktop and show/hide based on last input event?

Re: Fremantle porting - getting organised

Firefox wise, they have dropped GTK2 so without maintaining a fork of browser related code (Firefox/embedlite and gtkmozembed)) a Microb inspired browser is out.

Re: Maemo-Leste pre-alpha announcement

Running an updated kernel, glibc etc it would be interesting to see if there are any performance gains over Fremantle. Due to current graphics stack Todo items and lack of some components like the...

Re: Maemo-Leste pre-alpha announcement

In terms of getting a Virtualbox/VMWare image running, would I just do a minimal Devuan install and then add a custom repo to pull the packages or are they still only in git?

Re: Maemo-Leste pre-alpha announcement

Do you have a virtual box image? Could be worthwhile to let people try it out or just have instructions to get people started.

One area that might need a little cosmetic work is osso-xterm...

Re: DOSBox 0.65 ... ftw

For the dimmer/mouse/lock switch problem I would look at the Maemo patches. Might be it's only checking for the lock switch. Haven't looked at it since I built the update for the ARM optimizations.

Re: Maemo & Sailfish Meeting in 40667 Meerbusch

Unfortunately I'm not travelling your way at the moment. Despite having a bit of time off, Christmas commitments and returning to work prevent me from being to far from home (UK).

If your planning...

Re: My vision for the future of Maemo Fremantle

This is what I've been trying to get at. Here and now isn't the only issue. Some consideration/ forward planning is needed. How well maintained is upstart now Ubuntu has dropped it? Do you take the...

Re: My vision for the future of Maemo Fremantle

Sorry, I was referring to after we have a working, up to date Debian/Debian based system. Stick with what we have then, look at GTK upgrade or Qt switch, Wayland support, libhybris to support other...

Re: My vision for the future of Maemo Fremantle

It still keeps core elements stuck in GTK2 though and that is my biggest issue for the future. XFCE is nearly all GTK3 now and even Mate has switched over. That being said, with GTK4 around the...

Re: My vision for the future of Maemo Fremantle

For me, the only issue I have is maintaining a focus on ABI/ API compatibility is like creating Maemo 5.1 (I hate Chrome inspired inflated version numbers) and doesn't simplify maintenance based on...

Re: [Announce] CSSU devel, it may eat your brain

Three may be some other projects as part of fmg's Fremantle-GTK2 project that could be included. Might be worth talking to him.

Re: [WIP] Fremantle GTK3 Experiment

So, today I've been taking a look at extending the experimental code. Apparently it looks a lot better on my PC than it does on the laptop as it uses the symbolic icons from close and the button...

Re: [WIP] Fremantle GTK3 Experiment

Yeah. By moving the menu code client-side I wouldn't have to worry about requiring hildon-desktop and avoid using X11 code within libhildon itself. I can't remember the env variable off the top of...

Re: [WIP] Fremantle GTK3 Experiment

Sorry for not being as active lately. A combination of frustration with code and the still on going medical issue have meant I've not been spending as much time working on any side projects. Still...

Re: Fremantle porting - getting organised

At the moment I'm just trying out ideas. I did think about extending the Weston desktop shell. I have also looked at how budgie was interacting with mutter. As mentioned elsewhere I think the easiest...

Re: Fremantle porting - getting organised

Depends on compatibility. If you want to be able to port existing apps with little amount of changes, you need a patched GTK3. If you want to stick to vanilla/stock GTK3, libhildon shrinks making it...
