Re: What is your Tablet's Device Name, and Why?

Name: Kraft.

Why? It was the name of the optronic computer owned by Axen Moon in the story of Outpost 2. Sort of his digital counterpart in the world, even though he only generally talked with it...

Re: liqbase - faster than paper

lcuk:

What you've done here is very nice indeed. I was going to post earlier to thank you, but I figured I'd make a bit more use of the app first, so I could be slightly more constructive.

With...

Re: Nokia N810 and apple wireless KB

Mine's always been a pain to pair: not only with my tablet but also with my laptop and desktop. It generally takes about three attempts, but the first time pairing with my n810 took much more than...

Re: N810 and Iphone Bluetooth

I do have to agree that their choice of bluetooth protocol implementations is a bit... odd.

A2DP should be there; and likely is in some form, to be honest, but I am willing to bet that they were...

Re: N810 and Iphone Bluetooth

AFAIK the iPhone does not support a number of somewhat important protocols in the bluetooth stack.

DUN/SPP is among them [Dial Up Networking] which is, generally, the most used network protocol. I...

Re: Buying N810 in Canada?

Ah yes... this infuriates me to no end. "We stock Item X/Y" and then reality turns another side. It could, theoretically be that they only stock it online... but I won't give them the benefit of the...

Re: Buying N810 in Canada?

Got my n810 from NCIX when they first came out [well, it was a couple weeks to get it in, but still]

The n800 claims to be in stock at tigerdirect.ca and I've seen a bunch of deals there.
n800 -...

Re: is bluetooth keyboard

If you disable predictive word selection, and the dictionary, you will get much much improved typing response in my experience. I find that both of these are fairly useless when typing with a...

Re: Why is WiMax such a big deal?

Yep, we're agreeing I think.

HSDPA in Europe, etc = likely the way to go.
WiMAX in other markets = possibly *a* way to go.

Besides, someone has to be the guinea pig, right?

Yeah, I like...

Re: Where is HSDPA?

While I agree partly, and simply cannot comment on more evolved cellular networks, I'll just point out that WiMAX makes sense here.

Our cellular networks aren't bad... they're remarkably bad. I...

Re: Why is WiMax such a big deal?

Sure it will work? HAHA, no... hoping... praying, even... possibly. But... I have my hopes. The rollout of WiMAX in Canada-land might make it a tempting target market for Nokia. This is my hope at...

Re: Why is WiMax such a big deal?

At work we deploy a WiMAX modem + Wireless Router combo, and I've been fairly impressed with it. It's quick, the coverage is superb [though we only use it in larger cities] and the response is...

Re: OS 2008 Bluetooth Audio

Depends... According to the website:
"Supports Bluetooth headset, handsfree and A2DP profiles"

As far as I can read, the page indicates that it has support for HSP [bluetooth headset profile] as...

Re: OS 2008 Bluetooth Audio

True enough, I was just trying to simplify things ;)

Any application that can specify a particular audio output path to alsa should be able to output to the bluetooth device.

Re: OS 2008 Bluetooth Audio

As stated, it is possible to get A2DP working with OS2008.

Nokia hadn't quite finished the A2DP bluetooth profile when the last OS came out, so finishing it [or rather, getting it to a usable...

Re: USB sensors?!?

Some of these USB sensors look brilliant.

I had been curious as to whether such a kit existed, something that would allow you to hook up several peripherals and build a science/analysis/detection...

Re: Launch Terminal from Terminal

Strange, try the full path.

When I'm ssh'd into my tablet from a remote computer, running /usr/bin/osso-xterm will bring up the terminal [on the tablet it's self]. It'll give me a second xterm if...

Re: Skype

Generally, this error is due to having the stock version of the OS on your tablet. Shortly after the n810 was released, nokia released a new version of OS2008, so you'll need to upgrade to OS2008...
