For me N900 is not a smartphone but a computer/tabled that has it's drawbacks...

Its not just about the app, you need a transmitter that can broadcast on 433 mhz band. I dont think any phone or computer has something like that. The hardware can only transmit within preset limits...

I'm also thinking of doing this. Why not create a "big" / partition on one of the MMC cards, no hassle with mounts or optification, and boot from there.
Maybe use the fast memory for extra swap or...

the "vanilla" image restores the 32gb flash memory, the "root" image restores the root partition so you can boot again.
