Re: How to quickly connect to a bluetooth device?

Yes, Bluezwitch works great if you don't pair your headphones to anything else in between uses. I use my BT headphones for my computer and my N900, and after pairing with the computer and then going...

Re: WIll PR1.2 install over OC-ed/modded kernels?

I'm not an expert, or even a knowledgeable in this particular area, so this is just a guess.

If PR1.2 includes new kernel stuff, the update probably flashes over whatever kernel is installed. Then...

Re: N900 overclock tests/results and new versions

Just flashed Lehto's undervoltage 800mhz kernel, and the device is working fine. Didn't brick it right away! Hopefully it'll stay stable.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't undervoltage safer...

[Request] Instant disconnect widget

Here's an idea: a widget that instantly disconnects wifi or 3G connections when you tap it, no popups needed. Disconnecting from the status bar requires three taps + some waiting for potential lag...

Re: Having more than 4 desktops?

Lol yeah I've found it! Testing and devel too. I filled one screen with 10 of my most important contacts, one with calendar, ip widget and a grid of shortcuts. The other screens I filled with random...

Re: What do you think of the resistive touch screen?

A bad resistive screen can be a major pain in the ***, but a good one can be superior to capacitive.

The N900 has a great one.

True, a capacitive screen backed by good processing power and...

Re: Download-Manager for Maemo 5

Sorry, haven't seen one in the repos. Try to get a developer hooked on the idea, and there might be one soon though!

Re: Having more than 4 desktops?

I suppose... but why?

More desktops = more widgets = less battery.
Besides, four desktops provide plenty of space for everything!

Weird battery behavior after PR1.1

After updating to PR1.1 I noticed a drastic increase in battery drain. Long story short, I figured out it was Firefox that caused it and uninstalled it. The battery was fine the whole day, didn't...

Re: PR1.1 and unusual battery drain (not wifi related)

Damn =/ Try uninstallng all apps you can live without and see if it helps. Maybe there's another app that does the same to hildon-home as FF.

Re: PR1.1 and unusual battery drain (not wifi related)

Okay, I'm fairly sure now that Firefox is the culprit behind the sudden battery drain.

Recap: after the update I reinstalled my applications, including Firefox. Then I noticed that the battery...

Re: PR1.1 and unusual battery drain (not wifi related)

No, I would remember it. Now FF is uninstalled, but hildon-home is still going at it, even after a reboot.

I'm guessing it's a pretty important system process, so I won't try to reset it with a...

Re: PR1.1 and unusual battery drain (not wifi related)

I really wish I'd remember :P I just began with the ones I didn't really need, or the ones I knew came from devel.

Firefox was one of the apps I remember I uninstalled. I installed it again a few...

Re: PR1.1 and unusual battery drain (not wifi related)

Okay, I dunno what exactly did the trick, but uninstalling a few apps and changing the theme back to the default one (blue Nokia N-series, from the maemo.org theme) seems to keep the battery in...

Re: PR1.1 has introduced a battery drain bug (not wifi related)

Yes, PR1.1 definitely has a battery drain bug.

I charged the battery before going to bed, and the next morning it had turned itself off. I was sleeping and not doing anything with the phone, it...

Re: N900 kinetic scrolling

Give the scroll momentum to make it go faster.

One scroll activates the scrolling, but doesn't go very far or very quickly. Doing the scrolling motion again and again gives it more speed, and...

[HOW-TO] Set a static IP address for port forwarding

I didn't find a definitive guide on the forums, and the settings are quite deeply buried, so here's a how-to for the setup of a static IP address on your N900.

Also note that this guide is aimed...

Not sure if it's in extras, but it is at least in extras-testing. Works very well.

I used the very good and...
