No the Nokia doesnt have storage to keep a 200 some meg image of itself in flash memory. Just follow all the directions from the flash tool and you should be able to default it.

If you have to RMA it I would get the RMA from Nokia and send it to Nokia, not the dealer.
Can you run sfdisk /dev/mmcblk0 ? prolly wont work since it should be unmounted first but you can't...

Settings > Control Panel > Text Input Settings > On Screen Tab , Check Enable Stylus Input Method. Tap a text area with the keyboard in and you should get the software one popup on screen.

I messed up my internal flash on my N810 too. What I did was grab e2fsprogs and used sfdisk to fix it.
apt-get install e2fsprogs
Edit: Oh ya, this will erase all files you have on the 2 gig...
