@RobbieThe1st: Thanks, a rootfs with a working copy of your flasher tool would be much appreciated - I wiped it out the moment I reflashed to the stock PR1.2 fiasco.

1) Reflash rootfs without -r argument. Completed...

Incidentally, a day after I asked the above question, my N900 is now dead as dead can be.
I'm guessing eMMC/rootFS corruption as the N900 simply gets stuck in the loading screen after the Nokia...

Hmm nice, but a list = the stock Maemo launcher/main menu already does this well enough IMHO (even more so when bound to a key shortcut like I do).
I'd rather a full bar of buttons + small time...
