Re: BBC iPlayer?
I think you're referring to the iPod/iPhone MP4 stream, which not only a) the BBC goes to great lengths to stop people downloading but also b) doesn't play on the N8x0, not enough grunt!
I think...

Re: BBC iPlayer?
This has already been done by lots of folk on the beebhack wiki.

The N95 stream is just H264+AAC over RTSP. Accessing the stream may be tricky...

Re: Push-In/Out Camera Question (n800)
I think the option to stop the Internet Talk app opening when you open the camera is in the app's options dialog.
It's definitely somewhere around there anyway, as I've turned that particular...

Re: London Tube Map
I gotta admit that the best tube map I've ever had is still the small paper one they give out for free at all tube stations. Fits in my wallet and never runs out of juice.

Re: BBC iPlayer?
No. Same reason as before - iPlayer does not work like YouTube. They both use Flash to display video, but that's the only similarity - the protocol and decompression behind the scenes is completely...

Re: BBC iPlayer?
While iPlayer is Flash-based, like YouTube, the comparison is not that simple at all.
First, iPlayer streams using RTMP, whereas YouTube uses standard FLV/HTTP streaming, which has lower...

Re: BBC IPlayer Flash Playback
That's bizarre, as on my N800, iPlayer is extremely stuttery, playing at about 2FPS. I'm quite sure it's not bandwidth, as on my PC (same connection) iPlayer is flawless.
I just figured the N800...

Re: Text2Speech for the N800
I haven't seen any myself I'm afraid.
The simple answer: It has to be made for Maemo.
The accurate answer: It depends on the nature of program. Usually the more complex it is, the less easy...

Re: Removing built-in mail app account
I had this exact same problem last week. The built-in mail app can't cope with more than a few hundred messages in a folder from what I gather.
What I did was get a terminal up and delete the...

Re: Freaky Installation
OS2008 comes with 3 MP3s (including one by Moby). I guess the .bin isn't compressed/scrambled at all, and VLC scanned through, identified an MP3 header, and just started playing whatever it found!

Re: N800 won't power on
I have this problem too - usually immediately after connecting or removing the power cable while the device is off. It won't turn on for a good 10-15minutes or so after that.
Annoying but no idea...

Re: Facebook Video - Flashplayer/Video/Microphone
Unfortunately the onus is still on Adobe to get V4L2 support into Flash; as of v9.0b3 it's still V4L1-only, and the webcam routines libflashsupport.c are never called so we can't fix it ourselves.

Re: Facebook Video - Flashplayer/Video/Microphone
The problem is that Flash on Linux only supports V4L1 webcams - even though V4L1 is not included in the kernel anymore. Modern webcams on Linux - including the N8x0's and the entire Logitech line -...
