Re: Is everybody dumber than me?

You don't know anything about me. One thing that I can guarantee though is that I will never come here again. And you can ESAD.

Re: Is everybody dumber than me?

That's because there is no incentive. I work 40-50 hours a week on my regular job (as a 'real' developer) and I also help my wife with her business about 20 hours a week. Both of these activities...

Re: Web access via 3G phone?

I will be buying a 3G phone next month (that is when I am elgible for an upgrade, from my Razr). I was going to buy an iPhone, but I will not accept AT&T's rate plan, slow EDGE speeds and the...

Re: Web access via 3G phone?

One thing you should never do -- don't call your cell provider and ask for tech support on tethering your IT or notebook to your cell phone. If they know you are doing it, they will dump you. I do...

Re: Heads up: new users may be coming

You know, that's the thing about embedded devices - even if they are sold, (like Newtons) over and over, they continue to work, and so they continue to have 'new' users.

Re: Cingular and data connect

If you intend to do this, simply call Cingular and tell them you want to try the data plan for one month. It will cost you $20 to find out if you like this.

If you do not do this, then you will...

Re: Yahoo Im ?

No. It will only work if they have an ARM-based version of it, specifically compiled for the 770.

This is similar to a Windows CE device, not being able to run a Windows XP program.

Re: No ..., here's the real threat

Isn't that funny? It has PDA functionality on it. Hmmm.

Re: Visual Studio Heresy

Huh. Well, I just now tried installing WinZig on my 770 (w/OS2006), and it would not work. It said I needed Python 2.4, and I already have Python 2.5 installed on there. I tried uninstalling 2.5...

Re: Visual Studio Heresy

I would rather work for Nokia.

I was thinking about a single application for Tasks, Calendar items, Journal, Notes and Inbox, and a freeform data section.

This latter section could hold...

Re: Visual Studio Heresy

I looked into Mono on the 770 (which already works on the 770), and it
was not very friendly for me, and I have 14 years of experience with VB and a few of .NET.

I don't want you to think Mono...

Re: Visual Studio Heresy

Well, I thought the same thing, but I have been looking at Python. Python is practically VB anyway. Try that. It's not that hard.

I never even saw Python before this week, and now, I am working...

Lightbulb Outlink - Outlook Data Extractor

I made this a year ago. It disappeared from the ITT website, one day. Anyway, it extracts Outlook data into a bunch of XML files. If you like it, great. Link to download is here:

Re: ZOMG it runs XP!!!11!1!!one!

What's up with that? Is it just a WinCE computer shoe-horned into the 770 shell? Or is this really running Windows?

Lightbulb Eddie Bauer man-bag works great for 770

My wife bought this several years ago, for herself, for about $9, on sale. It is a little nylon purse/man-bag. Anyway, I have been using it for a year, to hold my 770. It has a place for my...

Re: anyone buy generic nokia chargers off ebay?

I bought a generic charger for my car's cigarette lighter that is coiled and works perfectly. Dont' look for a 770 charger; look for a charger for (uh, is it the Nokia N90 cell phone?). Anyway, you...

Idea for 'Outlook-like' thing

I was thinking about it, and the Inbox application is similar to Outlook. I think if I can hack the inbox folders, and populate them, in a way that Inbox can see them, then it will be cool. For...

I am not trolling/flamebaiting. I am making points. Sorry if you can't handle a dissenting viewpoint.

I do want this device to succeed, and simply trying to cajole developers is not enough. ...

Re: Apple Newton Developer Talks About the Maemo GUI

Well, I put it out on InternetTabletTalk.com, exclusively, almost a year ago. I guess I should have put it out on something like tucows or dogpile, but I didn't. As a matter of fact, I just checked...

Re: Apple Newton Developer Talks About the Maemo GUI

Therein lies the problem; you have used that hopefully word again. This same type of teary-eyed plea for hobbyist developers to update free software, (with no incentive to support or enhance it) is...

Re: Apple Newton Developer Talks About the Maemo GUI

I guess you didn't see my point. With Newton Connection Utilities, you could synchronize important data from your PC/Mac directly to your Newton. There was no piecemeal "use X for the calendar, Y...

Re: The Flash barrier

The only reason Flash is anything, is because of IE, Firefox and, I guess Opera (barely). If browsers didn't support it, it would be abandon-ware. I think Adobe wanted it to be a stand-alone...

Re: Apple Newton Developer Talks About the Maemo GUI

I said something like this last week, Sean, here:http://www.internettablettalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3988&page=4; although I wasn't as polite. I was brutal. I basically said that the Newton...
