Re: How Should WiFi Work on Random Hotspots?
The biggest times I run into this is when there are ADHOC networks around. For some reason a Windows workstation appears to broadcast any SSID's it's connected to in the past as an adhoc network...

Re: Overclocking N800?
I think you are mis-understanding some things. The processors are the same. The ability to adjust the clocking of the processor properly are being built into the new LINUX kernel in OS2008. So...

Re: smb for the N800??
There are several SMB modules you can add on from the Software section above. One is SMB Browser which I've used successfully. There are also SMB clients that are CLI oriented as well.

Re: SMS Client On the Nokia 770 / 800 ??
I've tried both Phonelink and Gnokii. GAMMU is available as well. Not sure how to use gammu though. Phonelink uses Gnokii and it works well - the only pain was trying to get contacts in. It...

Re: My account is being hacked
You can send an email to abuse@theplanet.com.
I've gotten several emails from other boards with similar issues and that is one of the ip's I've seen as well.

Re: Nokia 770 vs n800
I had an N800 and then bought the 770.
For simple browsing the 770 is the way to go. Not sure about Google Apps but PDF's and regular web browsing on the 770 is great.
I've actually liked...

Hello,
Thought I'd pass this along just in case anyone else has had the same trouble.
First of all I had a 2GB San Disk SD card I partitioned to try dual booting (half fat/half ext2).

I've had success with Phonelink which uses the Gnokii library but it unfortunately doesn't read the phone book of...

Re: My N800 Broke 2 Sd Cards!!!
I've been having lots of problems with my SD cards as well - particularly in the "removable" slot. It seems to happen when particular applications either break/die/loop or something.
Many times...

Re: Screen Protector question
I got one from boxwave and ended up washing both sides - the only difficult is drying afterwards - do not wipe the sticky side! :-) Lint sticks to it then.
Looked better afterwards. I would...

Re: Application Manager will not update!
Try disabling some of the repositories until you find the one that is being flaky. Sometimes they are offline and it messes things up.
The Wiki's on MAEMO.ORG have good stuff on xterm. I...

Re: RealPlayer
You would need to have a version of Real Player compiled for ARM / Debian which may be why you are having problems. The Media Players handle some streams of audio but are extremely limited on...

Re: Talking on Gizmo while Listening to Rhapsody
This seems to be related to the fact that both applications are using the DSP to decode video/audio. Since there is only one DSP - only one application can run at a time.
That would explain why...

The main difference between the slots is that the internal (under the battery cover) is meant not to be removed during operations as you can set swap on it.
The external card is more for being...

Re: INdT games for Maemo - working?
Easiest thing is to add the repository to the Application Catalog. The parameters are on the web page of the guy who created the games.
They work great!

Re: N800 over charging?
My guess is it is a response to all the batteries blowing up lately and the fact that Lithium Ion batteries have a habit of wearing out when maintaining a full charge all the time.
I've had PDA's,...
