dd copy the partition to a real hard disk partition. Then do a simple cp -r from hard disk to a new sd card.

Pull the battery and let it sit for 3 days. That should reset the hardware clock.

Sounds like an old/weak battery. Could be internal dust shorting the antenna to the case.

I was under the impression that the dsp is used to filter the presses to determine stylus vs finger and to focus the X Y coordinate. Is the touchscreen driver open?

You should inspect for damage. Remove the battery. Take a thin blade screwdriver and gently pry in the three holes under the kickstand. Metal bezel will pop off and you can remove the speaker...

Sounds like a damaged touch screen causing the dsp to work continuously. Streaming music causes the dsp to break away from the touch screen to process the music. Clean under the bezel and look for...
