Re: From Nitdroid Back To to OS2008?

If you're on Windows, I think you can use that Nokia Software Update app you found. If you're on Linux (or like using the command line), then the "Updating Tablet Firmware" wiki page is right for...

Re: Meego ?

Make sure you're getting the correct image from that site. Pretty sure the eMMC one isn't the right one.

More detailed instructions are here:...

Re: Debian Mobile: MeeGo on Debian (for N900?)

@titan and @yoush:
Well, it sounds like you guys have your goals down pretty well. I think the next thing to do is really roll up your sleeves and see how far you can get. Best of luck!

Re: Debian Mobile: MeeGo on Debian (for N900?)

That's very ambitious but that's exactly the kind of clear goal you need to set in advance. But if you set a goal of never breaking compatibility with Maemo 5, you're not going to get anywhere close...

Re: Debian Mobile: MeeGo on Debian (for N900?)

@titan:
Well, that seemed like the logical thing to do from my point of view, but then again...it didn't really work for us. And at this point I think most of the Mer people are going to be putting...

Re: Debian Mobile: MeeGo on Debian (for N900?)

(quick post 'cause I'm at work. more later.)
AFAIK, Nokia *tried* to push their gtk+ patches upstream, but upstream wasn't interested because they change some really core gtk+ stuff. Essentially...

Re: Debian Mobile: MeeGo on Debian (for N900?)

Hi titan and yoush,
I thought I should take a second here and chime in. Seeing as you registered here in October and December and don't seem to be big IRC users, you might not have caught the early...

Re: How to install javascript apps?

How about do it the way they do for the ovi store? I'll paste in the .desktop file for it in case you don't have a physical N900 on hand:
/usr/share/applications/hildon $ cat ovi.desktop
[Desktop...

Re: Come on bring more apps... its like 0.5 new apps per day now :)

@Footballdt23: If it's so easy, why don't you do it? You'd be a hero to a lot of people here. And if you're not worried about getting sued, I'm sure you could sell it and make a nice little lump of...

Re: How secured is the N900 with Maemo5?

I've had a password set for 'user' and 'root' on the N800 (since mid-2007) and N900 both, and have seen zero problems so far. I also set the hostname in /etc/hostname. ;) Now, I'm not saying there's...

Re: Can not install anything via X-Terminal

For future reference, do you have any idea what you might have installed that caused the problem? Was it from maemo (extras/extras-devel/extras-testing)? Was it from someplace else?

Re: Anyone "jailbreaked" the N900 yet?

The Maemo 5 "jailbreak" is called "rootsh" and it's in Extras and available as a "one-click" install from http://maemo.org/downloads/product/Maemo5/rootsh/

Working very well here as well. WRT, the in-car FM transmitter situation...I'm not sure if this even makes sense, but it seems like the direction my N900 is facing affects how well the car antenna...

Re: How do you use X Terminal to install .deb files

0.) You should be aware that installing random .deb files is a good way to end up having to reflash. Say to yourself, out loud, "I'm ok losing all the data on my N900 when this goes wrong."
1.)...

Re: ow to take the Red-Pill and install more apps on the N900

Re: 3G with N900 on AT&T? (was: 3G ignroant. educate me pls)
