Re: UI changes ?

It's condescending BS responses like this that make me long for a "no thanks" button.

Re: Hilarious "review"

I agree that these people "don't get it", but sentiments like theirs will be in the majority. It is heavy. Ovi does suck. The stylus is off-putting to most people

Re: N900 Video FPS

25 FPS is plenty if that rate is maintained. (Most films are 24FPS.) However, the video recording capability of the N900 is clearly claimed to be "up to 25FPS". The key words being "up to".

Re: HD2 has 1ghz processor and 448MB ram, why not the n900?

I support open source and standards. Not to mention, WinMo 6.x is rather clunky and ugly IMO.

I do like HTC's Sense UI though.

Re: HD2 has 1ghz processor and 448MB ram, why not the n900?

I'm confused as to where this idea of the Snapdragon platform being "weaker" than that of the N900 comes from. Can someone please enlighten me?

Cortex Arm 8 Omap 3430 CPU at 600 MHz

Re: Motorola Droid

Good point. I don't really understand why so much space was allocated to the D-pad. Honeslty, I don't understand why ANY space was allocated to the D-pad when such a beautiful touch screen is...

Re: Motorola Droid

I think the crowding feel is aggravated by the flatness of the keys. If they were domed more or larger, I honestly don't think it would be an issue. With the Droid, I found it difficult to not press...

Re: Motorola Droid

I went to the Verizon store this evening and played with the Droid for about 20 minutes. There are things I loved about it, and things I hated but in the end... I likely won't be buying it. A few...

Re: N900 vs SE Rachel (Xperia x3)

Well the phone was just announced on Engadget. It might be a decent phone... when released in 2010!

The storage sucks (8GB microSD), it's running Android 1.6 (so no multi-touch or navigation) and...

Re: N900 vs SE Rachel (Xperia x3)

I too am pretty intrigued by this device. Honestly, on paper it looks like everything I want. (I prefer physical keyboards, but only slightly.)

My biggest concern is SE's track record of...

Re: Briefly tried an N900!

From all of demo videos I've seen (and I do mean ALL of them), I agree with pretty much everything the OP said.

The minimalist black and gray GTK UI combined with the less-than-fluid transitions...

Re: N900 vs. Motorola Droid (Verizon Android device)

I didn't mean to say you had to be a developer to like the N900. My point was that the fact of Maemo being more open and therefore easier to develop for, is not an advantage to me.

Fair point...

Re: N900 vs. Motorola Droid (Verizon Android device)

What gives you the impression that I continued to be "so bothered" by your comments? As I said, I found them snarky and condescending. You clarified (sort of), explained your position and I left it...

*sigh*

Man this post really irritates me. This is the second time you've replied to me out of context, assumed I'm somehow uninformed and in need of your self-proclaimed "expert" tutelage.

Re: N900 vs. Motorola Droid (Verizon Android device)

It's an interesting point you make about the apps being geared to the G1/Mytouch. Do you mean because they all have half the screen resolution? That's a fair point if they aren't compatible with...

Re: N900 vs. Motorola Droid (Verizon Android device)

I'll ignore the snarky tone and condescension.

The N900 is very much for me. I just don't think the mobile computer description is very apt. It's much more a smart phone to me.

Re: N900 vs. Motorola Droid (Verizon Android device)

I'm a little sad and torn.

I slowly fell in love with the N900 over the last 2 months, but I must confess that the Droid is probably better for me. My reasons are as follows:

-I'm not a...

Re: Does the N900 Adobe Flash work with the Camera?

The ability to use it for flash based video chat would be a great feature.

Given that there are more demo units out there, has anyone successfully used the front facing camera for anything?

Very informative videos. However...

I am disappointed in JKK. Being a frequent viewer of his UMPC reviews, I found his views on the N900, and Linux in general, to be surprisingly unsophisticated.

Re: latest youtube video. Alot of screen touches not registred?

I completely understand lag with many applications open.

However, I've seen the same herky, jerky transitions in nearly ever video regardless of the amount of apps open. It's not necessarily a...

Re: latest youtube video. Alot of screen touches not registred?

There were several new demo videos from CTIA today and after watching them all, it seems like the screen responsiveness and UI lag have gotten worse since the demos around Nokia World.

Starting to...

Re: Another Video Phonedog

Yes lag is understandable, especially with so many apps open.

With that said, I've seen pretty much every preview video of this device and I'm sorry (and a little frustrated) to say that they all...
