I could never get the built-in GPS to work the brief time i had the N900. I had to resort to a bluetooth GPS receiver i had around that picks up in less than 10 secs. Shame.

Well to answer my own question, it doesn't work. The deb file installs fine but the Navicore app will not launch, just crashes.
Guess it's on to Sygic or Ovi maps then.

So i used to be a bit active here years ago when it was still InternetTabletTalk and i had an N800 and afterwards N810 and after horrible experiences with both devices, i sold them and moved on.

:mad::mad: Hmm, so the same sputtering on N800/810 when trying to play videos locally, random freezes and so forth, music not fluid, apps crash randomly, bla bla bla.
Stability-wise and O.S-wise...

I definitely passed on the A2 and went with an Archos AV500 almost 2 years ago. To be fair, i got a chance to get the AV500 mint new for less than $120 (i work for a retail outlet and get first dibs...

Sorry to be this blunt, but don't even bother with the N800 as a PMP, it falls miserably short. Like you stated, you don't want to have to transcode all your DivX/XviD files and i agree with you.

How in the world can it be the "same exact version"? The leaked version that i put on my N800 and took off after a while was abysmal in most areas. Youtube was much better, but that was it....

Whammo!! It finally took, loading 2007 as i type.
The 2008 preview was nice, but it broke a lot of things for me like bluetooh DUN via my Treo, webpages always crashing, and i mean always, NO skype,...
