Re: The [Almost-Completely :D] Pain-Free Maemo Development OS for Ages 9 to 99

Sir, I have an invaluable secret to share that you'll find most useful - as have I during my many traversals among the often exciting but periodically sprawling topics of maemoan conversations.

Re: Swipe down--what are these things?

They are basically like profiles for different situations. You can configure them from Settings -> Ambiances. And have a setting to quickly change from silent phone, to only calls, or different call...

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

That's just what I said I've done, in comparison of navigating to events view shortcuts?

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

I beg to differ.

Compare:

Stumbling in darkness, opening lock screen, swiping left to reach events screen. Swipe down to reach the "shortcuts". Trying to hit with trembling finger the icon to...

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

Hammerhead Flaslight's sources are available and it'd be trivial to modify it to be just a simple toggle.

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

Install Hammerhead Torchlight from Openrepos, and Bob's your uncle. Note that the version in Jolla Store doesn't work with Xperia X, you need the version from Openrepos.

Re: WTB: Sony Xperia X F5121

I recently sent a phone, and the post office lady required that the battery be installed in the phone. I was baffled, as I had the impression it should be the other way around. But I obliged, and the...

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

Did some photos at house with just lamps, so the brightness of the scene is not excellent. It seems to me that the autofocus is not working well. At a first glance the photos look great compared to...

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

Google Play store downloading does not work anymore even with Jolla 1, apparently due to Google's changes that block unauthorized devices.

You can use Yalp store to get applications from Google...

Re: [Announce] Webcat Browser

I don't know if you have Xperia X, but WebCat acts sluggish on it. On Jolla C it was my preferred browser, but on Xperia X the performance is noticeably worse than on Jolla C for some reason....

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

One strange thing: I don't see any Android applications in Jolla store anymore (except Aptoide store). Is this a change in new SailfishOS version (because in Jolla C I see them), or is there...

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

It works. But perhaps not how you or I would want to. If you have the camera application on screen, pressing the hardware button takes a picture. But if you don't have the camera application active...

Re: How to unlock bootloader - Sony xperia X

My advice to juiceme: if you have troubles with this inside linux, then despite the mental horror, boot into Windows or loan a friend's Windows machine for fifteen minutes. I spent several evenings...

Re: How to unlock bootloader - Sony xperia X

I finally managed to accidentally click on some chinese scribbling that presented me with language selection. So I'm now able to use the phone and hopefully try to recover the DRM keys.

Thank you...

Re: How to unlock bootloader - Sony xperia X

But wouldn't flashing the new Android image anyway install all those drivers?

Re: How to unlock bootloader - Sony xperia X

I just did the flashing in Windows with Mousse04 image and apparently the result is a working phone. Too bad the phone speaks now chinese or something like that which makes using it a bit problematic...

Re: How to unlock bootloader - Sony xperia X

No, I'm pretty sure it's with MM. It's just that it boots, gives a distorted Xperia image after about 10 seconds, and reboots again. Bootlooping forever.

Re: How to unlock bootloader - Sony xperia X

Sure, here's the logs when I flashed Mousse04's image:

28/021/2017 21:21:03 - INFO - Device connected in flash mode
28/021/2017 21:21:23 - INFO - Selected Bundle for Sony Xperia X(F5121). FW...

Re: How to unlock bootloader - Sony xperia X

Same results, unfortunately. I'm going to bite the bullet with chagrin and try Sony's official flasher on Windows, as it seems that's what will be required anyway for flashing Sailfish.

Re: How to unlock bootloader - Sony xperia X

I've also wondered whether there are multiple versions of Xperia X with subtle differences that could explain failure. My box says revision 4, which suggests there is other revisions.

Re: How to unlock bootloader - Sony xperia X

Unfortunately even this didn't work. Same boot loop as a result.
