Re: GPE calendar sync to Google calendar

Here is the Maemo page of Graham Cobb. He recompiles the GPE stuff for Maemo, and it's his repository we use. Of interest on this page are the two backup scripts under the Open Sync section that...

Re: GPE calendar sync to Google calendar

Not sure you can get to hidden folders with the graphical file managers, but Midnight Commander (mc) on the terminal interface will do it. I suspect that when we get to discussions of hidden folders...

Re: GPE calendar sync to Google calendar

Erminig is fine, but the new GPE calendar appears to do some Google sync by itself. Now... Just try and find some documentation for the current GPE calendar.

Re: Cloning OS to SD Card: Simplified instructions

Fanoush' Web site/download location (http://fanoush.wz.cz/maemo/#initfs) appears to be down. Is there an alternative? Is the tool small enough someone could attach it to a post?

Re: Any way to get rid of the "contacts" icon?

It's not about the theme. It's the way themes work on the Nokia implementation.

There's a thread around somewhere about an alternative window manager - Fluxbox, or Blackbox, I think - that may...

Re: Ripping DVD to N800

Doesn't Handbrake have N800 preset?

Re: Any way to get rid of the "contacts" icon?

The above instructions apply to the 'Applications' menu. The main menu can be rearranged also, but none of the three base icons can be removed. Annoying, ain't it?

Re: Ripping DVD to N800

I've been able to get a DVD down to 300MB using Handbrake. Key is the level of of compression you give the audio tracks, how many artifacts you can live with in the video. I can live with a few for...

Re: Any way to get rid of the "contacts" icon?

Same here... I'd like to be able to have what I want, or don't, on the top level menu.

Short answer: There seems no way to do this with GUI tools.

Alternative answer: This is Linux. You can...

Re: os2008 on n800: still a beta

Related: I notice no problems with virtual memory on the internal card. It's not a vary fast (133), 1Gig card, but I do notice it never appears when the N800 is plugged into a PC. I suspect this...

Just download the OS2007 image, and flash that.

Re: Virtual memory - How much is enough?

I allocated less than the 128M, and that sped things up quite a bit. Next I allocated the whole 128M, and, subjectively, it seems slower.

Re: Battery Life, and Wifi

Not quite what I thought. I'm blaming it on the constant need for reconnecting with the b version. In other words, you have a bad signal, your N800 tries to roam a bit, can't find anything else to...

Battery Life, and Wifi

Just to be pedantic, I'm using the N800.

Short version: I have switched my wifi router to serve 802.11g only, rather than the b & g I had set before, and it's saving me battery life.

Long...

Problem with the default mail app and GMail

Anyone else notice this?

The default mail app tags mail on the GMail POP server as downloaded even though told to leave it on the server.

Here's the thing: I want to see all email go through...

Re: Blogging from the N800

I use Blogger for now, and you can email your posts, so you have the full functionality of your mail client. Is that possible with Wordpress?

What's up with Maemo and Internet Tablet Talk?

Re: Palm user: is it time to move to the Nxxx?

As everyone notes, the N800 is not a PDA. It's actually a palmtop, Linux-based, tablet computer. That means you can have whatever you want, one way, or another, and while it will not replace any...

I've just started into researching this, and I'm glad someone started the thread.

Re: Nice little charging and battery backup solution!

Ok... I've now tried the Noma/Tekkeon version from Canadian Tire on the N800, and here's an oddity. IT DRAINED THE FRICKIN' TABLET!!!

I notice in the posted picture that there are Alkaline AA's...

Thanks for the tip, but that's not the question. This is:

What version of the phonelink installation is the Nokia Internet Tablet community currently favouring?

BTW - That won't necessarily...

Wink Re: PhoneLink : dial & sms from 770

Re: PhoneLink : dial & sms from 770

Ok... You knew this was coming, so let's get it over with: You need to read up on basic *nix commands.

That said, here's what you need to do:

$> mv gnokiirc .gnokiirc

On *nix you use the...
