Re: The mighty n900 week 2014 (Day 6 of 7)

Yes, too much trouble for an inferior user experience that still leaves nagging doubts…

In closing on this most auspicious week…

I really can’t even explain why I love this device. And it...

Re: The mighty n900 week 2014 (Day 6 of 7)

No - It functions well for many, many reasons - but other smartphones are trying very hard to tie you to the ecosystem and track you to your user account right after you take it out of the box and...

Re: The mighty n900 week 2014 (Day 6 of 7)

I like it because you can run it without a “user account” and it still functions well.

You need certain devices that are able to run without a user account, disabled backup, rolling through Tor...

Re: The mighty n900 week 2014 (Day 0 of 7)

I was lucky... I never did and still don't have issues with the USB like others had. It is also not slow and runs very well.

Did you flash it? If it is slow and running "off" that can help. But if...

Re: Sailfish OS bash shell is affected by the #shellshock bug

I run the N900 and was concerned about what you wrote here and "apt-get."

Has that been patched via an OS update or is there something I need to do specifically to get patched.

I am not sure...

Re: The mighty n900 week 2014 (Day 0 of 7)

I stumbled onto this thread today and smiled. I love my N900 and still use it on wifi. I just purchased another battery for it about a month ago and was grateful I was still able to find a battery. ...

Re: Modest fixes

It appears to be only POP3. I doesn't happen with Gmail... you can be in Gmail on the N900 actively using it, and at the same time, access Gmail via the web.

For POP3 the server "unavailable" is...

Re: Modest fixes

Once again, thanks for explaining. I was in over my head with this fix being a Windows user.

Most of the time you just live with bugs - but no POP3 incoming email rendered my phone just short of...

Those directions were copied and pasted from ceroberts 75 off the Nokia Forum. Here is the link:

Re: Modest fixes

I would never argue with that. I completely agree. I am arguing for the "options" to do it.

In the end... It's completely ridiculous to have a smartphone that can't delete from the server...

Re: Modest fixes

After further thought I realize what I call a "feature" you call a "bug."

In other words... nobody like it. I did though.

So "Leave on the server" means the mail will ALWAYS remain on the...

I think mine was doing something else...

Before this fix the mail would show up on the N900 as well as the computer (because I had "Leave on server" selected.) Just like it should. If I then...

Re: Modest fixes

I lost something after the fix. In settings I have "Leave messages on server" which it did. But when I decided to delete a message it would then delete from the server. That feature is no longer...

Re: Modest fixes

I had to do a bit of searching because I ran into trouble following the instructions. I thought I would post what I found in case others are having trouble.

When I put in sudo gainroot I got a...

Re: Need Help to Flash Back to PR 1.1.1

I flashed it every which way possible and if you get it to boot (which is not easy) it's not a usable phone.

With so many GB's a built in recovery partition would be nice. Then Nokia Care could...

Need Help to Flash Back to PR 1.1.1

I can't receive POP3 email automatically through the email client after upgrading to PR 1.2.

I flashed PR 1.2 and this did not correct it.

The problem can't be corrected - I want to go back...

Re: AIM sucking battery life

I messed around in the settings but was unable to make this happen. You can literally "watch" your battery drain. I have had the N900 for quite awhile so I know what my batter does and doesn't do. ...

AIM sucking battery life

I installed the Instant messenger AIM From Extras which is working great... but (there is a but) my battery life is suffering from it. Has anybody had that happen?

There are some settings under...
