Re: Overclock the N900?

Just went straight for 900Mhz. The improvement is amazing!
I can watch BBC iPlayer now - in full screen - Wow!

I've been overclocking PCs since the 386 days and I've not ever had a cpu die on me....

Re: [Announce] AutoDisconnect - Automatically disconnect idle connections

Wait (go to sleep) for 10 seconds.

calvin_42: I think a fix is also needed when it tries to kill the process in if-down now. You'll see that it runs differently in ps output to before.

Re: [Announce] AutoDisconnect - Automatically disconnect idle connections

If you feel comfortable using vim and editing files this worked for me.

Edit the file /etc/network/if-up.d/99-autodisconnect. Go to the last line and add an ampersand so it looks like:

Re: Connect to Internet on demand & disconnect automatically, particularly for GPRS?

Note to all people with questions about the script I posted: Please use the autodisconnect calvin_42 uploaded to extras-devel. And don't forget to disable extras-devel afterwards blah blah!

Re: Conboy - Note Taking Application (Tomboy clone)

Tried it but I can't let my iPhoned colleagues see it - it's quite ugly right now and IMO not ready for use yet, unlike conboy (and yes, I did contact notecase support about it).

Re: Conboy - Note Taking Application (Tomboy clone)

I like this idea. Notes in multiple notebooks would be very useful. Hierarchies can be a pain actually. As hierarchies grow it gets harder to categorise notes as they often belong in a few places....

Re: Conboy - Note Taking Application (Tomboy clone)

This app is extremely useful, looks good, works well and I use it often. I would like to put many more random notes in it but I find that, due to there being no way to group notes, I add notes...

Re: Connect to Internet on demand & disconnect automatically, particularly for GPRS?

It's your access point at .254 address checking that you're still there every 20s, like you said before. These will be 28 byte rx and tx packets. A very quiet connection for the sample period.

Re: Conboy - Note Taking Application (Tomboy clone)

I guess you won't use the email app either then.

Re: Connect to Internet on demand & disconnect automatically, particularly for GPRS?

The 'if' at the beginning of the line has gone missing. Re-copy and try again.

Re: Connect to Internet on demand & disconnect automatically, particularly for GPRS?

I think the script should be given a simple GUI, packaged and then see what feedback it gets. I've been wanting something like this since I got my n900 back in November. For me 3g eats up way too...

Re: Connect to Internet on demand & disconnect automatically, particularly for GPRS?

For the merged script? You should see one of the yellow notification popups a few seconds after connecting to gprs or wlan and one when it disconnects.

From the command line
ps | grep auto...

Re: Connect to Internet on demand & disconnect automatically, particularly for GPRS?

I didn't think too much about it. I just used the known working script. But looking at both, yours is more efficient code but run time should be the same. I just noticed I put a useless 'break' after...

Re: Connect to Internet on demand & disconnect automatically, particularly for GPRS?

Mostly luck I think! My email is set to update every 5 mins and I set my internet connection so that it comes up every 10 mins. My connection idles out after 2 mins with g_samplerate=60 so the email...

Re: Connect to Internet on demand & disconnect automatically, particularly for GPRS?

I've merged the scripts from azstunt and calvin_42 since they both have great features - I like the visual notification for starting connection monitoring and ending a connection. if-up was a good...

Re: Connect to Internet on demand & disconnect automatically, particularly for GPRS?

This sounds really useful, I for one would like to see it.

Also, when I connect to a network the email app automatically checks for new emails. If the script could also automatically bring an...

Re: Xournal for Fremantle

I really loved this program on the n810 and I'm really glad it was updated for n900 so quickly. A couple features I *really* miss are:

1. PDF annotation.
2. Select rectangle, to move stuff...
